Becoming a QPS School Volunteer (2025-26)

At Quapaw Public Schools, we encourage family involvement and support in our school buildings. Family members and individuals are invited to participate in our many engagement opportunities throughout the year. To ensure the safety of our students and staff, all volunteers must abide by the QPS Volunteer policy.

A school volunteer is present in the school for a pre-arranged purpose, donating time and expertise to support QPS students and staff. Examples of school volunteers are individuals that:

  • Help with Class Parties
  • Chaperone Field Trips
  • Support Book Fairs
  • Read to Classrooms
  • Support School-Wide or District-Wide Events

Individuals interested in volunteering with QPS may begin the application process by:

  • Submit an information form
  • Authorize a criminal records search
  • Pay the records fee
  • Review the relevant school policies
  • Sign the volunteer compliance agreement

(Packets will be available at Parent-Teacher Conferences)

The board has adopted this policy to clarify requirements, expectations, and responsibilities related to volunteering for the school district.

The district does not discriminate against volunteers on the basis of race, color, sex,

pregnancy, gender, gender identity or expression, national origin, religion, disability,

veteran status, sexual orientation, age, or genetic information. All individuals who volunteer

for the district should be committed to the district’s non-discrimination requirements and its

goal of providing quality education and related programs to the children of the community.

The district has a myriad of needs which can be filled by volunteers, and any individual

interested in being a school volunteer should contact a building principal to begin the

volunteer approval process.

No individual will be permitted to volunteer until all the required paperwork has been

submitted and the criminal records check has been reviewed and approved by the building

principal. In the event the criminal records check reveals adverse information regarding

the potential volunteer, the administration will review the facts and circumstances to

determine whether an exception can be granted and in what capacity, if any, the individual

may be permitted to volunteer. All potential volunteers will be given the opportunity to

explain any adverse information which is discovered during the criminal records check

prior to an application being denied.

In addition to the foregoing, there are also special considerations for volunteers who are

driving on school field trips or who are volunteering in connection with athletic events.

Individuals who transport students in personal vehicles are required to provide additional

documentation and declarations related to their driving history and insurance. Individuals

who volunteer in connection with athletic events are required to participate in sport-specific education programs.

For further information on how you can be a volunteer at QPS, please contact the building principals.  Aa application packet is located at the bottom of this page.

Student Drug Testing
Quapaw Public Schools requires that all students wishing to participate in extracurricular or co-curricular activities (Athletics, Band, Cheer, FFA, FCCLA, Academic Teams, E-Sports, etc.) complete a mandatory drug screening prior to the beginning of activities.

Cost for this screening is $10.
Students will not be permitted to participate in extracurricular or co-curricular activities until the successful completion of a drug screening. If you have any questions, please contact Jake Manning at (918) 674-2501 or by email at [email protected]
