April News

A few announcements as we begin the month of April. Next Monday, April 7, will be a VIRTUAL DAY at QPS. This is our annual MS Track Meet date. The juniors will have state assessment testing on Monday. All juniors need to report to the High School at 8:00 a.m. All other grades will be VIRTUAL on Monday, April 7. The MS Track Meet will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Monday. Monday will also be new student screenings for PreK and Kindergarten. Please contact the elementary school office for more information. Next Tuesday, April 8, Grades 9, 10, and 12, will be VIRTUAL. All other grades will have school. Juniors will have State Assessment Testing on Tuesday. Juniors need to report to the High School by 8:00 a.m. The Lucky 7 Baseball Tournament will be played weather permitting at Quapaw on April 3-5. Game times, schedules and calendars can be found on the school app, web page and Facebook page.
Tar Creek

Tar Creek Superfund Open House

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) will host an open house event discussing the Tar Creek Superfund site on Thursday, April 10, from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at the Miami Civic Center. Various agencies and organization will share information. This effort will also include lead awareness for the residents of Ottawa County.
During the open house, representatives from the Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality (DEA), EPA, and the Quapaw Nation (QN) will provide information and answer questions about the Tar Creek Superfund site and lead awareness. The event is for all individuals and families. There will be fun and educational activities for children at the open house.

State Science Fair

What a day at the State Science Fair! We are so proud of all of the students who competed in the Oklahoma State Science fair. We have never had a group where everyone who competed got an award. We have $14,500 in scholarships to the Oklahoma State University. Results:
Slade Dixon got the bio-chemistry award with $50. Caytie Couch received Ferguson college of Agriculture Animal Science scholarship $1500. Trevyn Arnold and Jack Berryman both received $2,000 each from the Ferguson college of Agricultural Plant Science , they also received $2500 each from the OSU discovery scholarship fund. Waylon Overman received $2,000 from the Ferguson college of Agriculture Environmental Earth Sciences $2000 scholarship. Brooklyn Brock received a $2000 scholarship for the college of Engineering. Trevyn Arnold and Jack Berryman was State Champions in the Senior Division of Plant Science and was in the top 8 for the International Science Fair call backs. Caytie Couch was state runner up in Senior Division Animal Science, Brooklyn Brock received 3rd place in the Senior Engineering Division. Written by FFA Reporter Caytie Couch.

Girls State Powerlifting Results

Congratulations to the following Lady Wildcats: Kate Boman entered competition 9th and left moving up 1 spot to finish 8th in the state at a 495 pound total. Mallory Leeper also entered 9th in the state and also moved up one spot to finish 8th overall with a 320 pound total. Addison McGuire entered competition 6th and is leaving 5th with some hardware and a 580 pound total! We are very proud of these girls. It is hard to get here and even harder to move up in positions. Great Job Ladies!!!!
